Tatay, Nanay, Pamilya, Kaibigan!
What a wonderful week in the Field! Thank you for your constant prayers, I sure do need it!
This week, I was given the compliment by one of my investigators that I was as white as a yam...haha, I have never heard that before...someone else told me, I like your pink fluffy skin...Our other investigator Sister Ruth called me, "my most beautiful lady". Haha Philipinos are funny. Also, the philippino little boys dont wear pants...It is apart of their culture because everyone does it, I am still shocked every time!
One of our companions went home. Shes may-sakit, so now its just the 2 of us, Sister Marino and I. Alot of the American sister missionaries have been getting sick, pero, I am great and I love it here!
I had some amazing experiences this week. Mainly 3 that stick out right now.
1. By tracking, I met Brother Romey. He is a truth seeker. Looking for the truth. We actually found him by going the wrong way. It was my fault bc i think i know everything...then i find out, i dont haha. He is about 40ish and we taught him the 1st lesson of the restoration. I wanted to make our lessons interesting so i teach the restoration through a parable of a tree that we made up. The spirit was so strong, to testify of all the truths stated. His mom was attending the lesson. She has been inactive for years and has been attending another church. She was in tears. I could feel her draw closer to the Lord. After the lesson I asked him to be baptized. He exclaimed, "I am converted! I am ready to be baptized!" Haha, I am so excited for him! I am excited to continue teaching him! If we didnt go the wrong way, we would have never found him!
2. We have been teaching a LA family. One of there sisters is Sister Minda. We invited her to come listen. She said, I will listen, but I will not join your church! We gave her an assignment, she likes to make deals with me. I was to explain the reading in tagalog, if she did it. OUr next appointment was at 7pm. They are poor and dont have any lights, i am so grateful they are because i love candle light. I taught her about the Book of Mormon. We all gather on the broken cement ground of her home, cross legged on the floor with our shoes place outside the door. I started with the prayer, praying for the spirit to touch her heart and fill the room with peace. As I taught, the lord put words and thoughts into my head. We went over the introduction, why this book was the keystone of our relilgion, and how by reading this book, you can gain a testimony that Christ is our Savior, that This is the true church on the earth, and that Joseph Smith is a totoong propeta. After I taught her, and kept my part of the deal, she exclaimed, "I feel the spirit!" She was given a witness that it was true. We asked her to be baptised! Its amazing, I feel like i was made for her, after years of missionaries, i coiuld help her feel the spirit.
3. Walking through a little alley, there was a little sitting there with her son. We walked past...then. I stopped. For some reason i couldn't leave without talking to her. Its like ther was a pull between us, the spirit told me not to leave her. We set a return appointment. Sister Luming has been a member since she was 18. she is 66 and has not been to church since she was married. She said she is going through trails and prayed to God to be given strength. She said, then you 2 showed up. We taught a powerful lesson and told her how important she was. She was so kind. Because i listened to the spirit, we found another one of His sheep that strayed from the path.
I am so grateful for the spirit. I know I would be nothing without it. I am continually learning everyday. I love the Philipians and I love serving them!!
Mahal Kita!
